About Grace Community Church

David E. Long founded Grace Community Church in his home on Berwick Trail in Madison, TN, in 1977.  Years later in 1985 the church purchased acreage off Lickton Pike with a vision to serve the Body of Christ and provide a sanctuary to develop community as well as personal and group retreats.  Please see our Vision Statement, Doctrinal Statement, and the New Qumran links for more detailed information.

The church is non-denominational and believes the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for ministry today.  David and Casey’s young granddaughter explained to her grandfather that we are a “farm church.”  We love simplicity and community and invite you to join us in worshiping and serving Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

To be a church which follows the New Testament example.  The specific mission of this assembly is to nurture and support a community of surrendered believers specifically called to a life of simplicity and self-denial.   We surrender our time, money, privacy, personal ambitions and goals to love one another and minister to the larger Body of Christ.  Our community is engaged in creating a therapeutic atmosphere of rest and repentance for Christian leaders and God seekers.

To proclaim a message which confronts the lukewarmness and apostasy of the American church.  Our message is focused on stripping the gaudy costume of ancient lies from the church so her pure love and sparkling white robes can be seen.  Jesus Christ will be lifted up and glorified in His church with the demonstration of power which comes when He reveals Himself to a people unified in love because they obey Him by loving one another.

To minister to the body of Christ.

To be a model of “going outside the camp” by renouncing the values of our age and accepting citizenship in the heavenly city with all of its implications.  Hebrews 11:13-15 and John 15: 18-19.

To give hospitality and provide a healing community to hurting Christian leaders and others.  This involves helping establish and reconstruct ministries and to encourage, confront, exhort and comfort the people involved in ministry.

To be a place where the Body of Christ can connect, fellowship, study, praise, work and grow.  In other words, to be a joint by which the individual parts work together to build up the Body in love.  Ephesians 4:16

  • To be a community of intensely committed Christians.

  • To live in harmony and support of one another holding to the priority of loving one another.

  • To serve as custodians of the land, facilities and ministry by faithfully engaging in prayer, study, work, hospitality and rest.
